On the day his brother Kurt Busch was suspended, Kyle Busch raced past Greg Biffle on Sunday to win the Checker Auto Parts 500 at Phoenix.

Starting 15th on the grid, Kyle wins his second Nextel Cup race this season after battling Greg Biffle at the end of the race to win.

"I just want to say I'm behind my brother 100 percent," the 20-year-old winner said of Kurt Busch, who was suspended earlier in the day for a Friday night run-in with police.

Standing on top of his No. 5 Chevrolet and waving to the cheering crowd at Phoenix International Raceway, Busch called his older brother, who won last year's Nextel Cup, "a true champion."

Kurt Busch was suspended by Roush Racing earlier in the day for the last two races of the season after police accused him of reckless driving. Officers said he smelled of alcohol and was belligerent during a traffic stop near the speedway.

Top 10 Finish at the short track

Kyle finishes 9th after starting 23rd at Martinsville Speedway for the Subway 500 this weekend.

This is a spectacular event, the short ovals. With 4 more races to go it was a frenzy at Martinsville racetrack. This event is by far the most abusive to both drivers and cars as the track only permits limited passing at different speeds.

Jeff Gordon takes a long aticipated checkered flag to win at Martinsville Speedway for the Subway 500 for the 2nd time.
